When you have an iPhone and want a smartwatch, there’s only one choice to make: how much do you wish to spend on an Apple Watch?

That’s since the competition in the smartwatch space is not really very good right now. Although there are a couple of different smartwatch and fitness music group options out there, none of them can work too with iOS as the Apple View does. Some of those competitors have much better battery life, but none of them combine as numerous features as well as Apple does.

It will be nice if Apple opened up iOS so that it was even possible to create a competitive smartwatch, but don’t keep your breath. You could worry about deficiency of competition and what it portends from the platform monopoly point of view (I definitely do), but our best advice with regards to actually buying something is to just purchase whatever Apple Watch you can pay for.

Lucky for all of us, the Apple View just happens to be excellent on its own worth.

The best smartwatch for most people: Apple View Series 5

Apple finally produced a change everyone has been waiting for within 2019: it allows you to have an always-on screen that continuously displays time. In our review of the Apple View Series 5 we noted it does slightly impact battery life, although not so much so that you can’t get through per day. I’ve been using a cellular version Apple Watch Series 5 for years and I can report that it, as well, can make it through a full day.

That will always-on display is the main reason all of us recommend the Series 5 more than older Apple Watches, but the bigger screen size and faster processors don’t hurt either. The Series five is also an excellent fitness tracker and it has health-monitoring features that could provide alerts to you or your loved ones in case of drops or irregular heart
